As passenger volumes trend back, Leeds Bradford Airport wanted to ensure they were prepared for the busy summer holidays and provide a smooth customer experience.

The airport turned to Veovo and its technology to help staff understand people flows, manage queues and proactively communicate passenger wait times at the security screening process. The Veovo Passenger Predictability solution was quickly rolled out as part of a ‘summer readiness program’ and is now helping the airport dynamically resource staffing, plan layout and lane openings, and predict queuing bottlenecks.

By aggregating people flow data from multiple sensors, the AI-powered platform delivers valuable metrics, including live occupancy, predicted wait times and lane productivity. Leeds Bradford Airport can therefore take more informed decisions to make passenger processing as efficient and smooth as possible.

And thanks to the integration with live queue wait-time information displays, passengers now have accurate information to help them take control of their journey and reduce anxiety and stress.

Damian Ives. COO & Accountable Manager, Leeds Bradford International Airport, said: “With passengers returning to the airport, it was vital that we continue to provide travellers with smooth, safe journeys, as well as clarity and reassurance on their wait times. With Veovo support, we are now regularly delivering our targeted service level of greater than 90% of customers through security in less than 20 minutes. The Veovo solution helps us manage passenger expectations better, making for a more pleasant travel experience.”

With such a rapid return to growth, airports of all sizes are tuning into the power of predictive technology to improve efficiencies and passenger experiences. Leeds Bradford joins other airports such as Amsterdam, JFK and Gatwick, which have partnered with Veovo to gather and analyse people flow data and proactively put it to work to make better plans and respond to customer needs faster.

Leeds Bradford Airport is the largest Yorkshire region (UK) airport. The airport currently works with various airline partners to service routes to Europe, with specific routes offering onward connectivity to the US.
