Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest US airports. To accommodate growth, its operator GOAA opened a new terminal, where airlines would share resources instead of leasing dedicated infrastructure. Ahead of the new terminal opening, the airport also decided to transition its main terminal to a similar common use operation.
Challenge
The complexity of operations increases when airlines share resources such as gates. GOAA planners were faced with a large number of manual processes to handle new resource allocation requirements and to regularly update all parties involved in managing each flight. The Veovo Revenue Management’s charge flexibility underpins the new rates created gives GOAA the flexibility to create the charges. Infrastructure usage is automatically captured in real-time and made available to the billing engine, bringing new efficiencies to the airport’s invoicing
Outcome
Web-based flight information and role-specific alerts ensure all parties can proactively adapt to change and respond faster to the needs of passengers and carriers. Automated allocation plans have improved resource usage, and when operational events happen, the system recommends the best changes to the plan.
Solution
GOAA turned to Veovo and its new generation Intelligent Airport Platform: The Veovo Airport Operational Database (AODB) and Flight Management integrates live flight schedule information, air traffic and other data to provide a holistic picture of live operations for all airport stakeholders. The Veovo Resource Management module optimises the efficient allocation of gate, counters and reclaim belts to flights across all time horizons, including busy day of operations.
