20/20 A-CDM from Gentrack has landed at Auckland Airport and Wellington Airport
New Zealand airports are first to embrace collaborative decision making in Australasia and are reaping the benefits.
Airport CDM is revolutionizing airport operations globally. By facilitating the real time data sharing of operational data between all airport partners, better and more informed decisions can be made around an aircraft’s flight sequence. Airport resources are optimised, airline fuel costs are reduced and aircraft turnarounds are improved. The passenger experience is also enhanced.
With both Auckland and Wellington airports experiencing growth, the need to remove manual processes and improve real time situational awareness across all airport stakeholders was apparent.
In August 2015, Auckland Airport became the first New Zealand airport to roll out Gentrack’s 20/20 A-CDM, having earlier deployed the fully integrated suite of 20/20 Airport Management Software, including AODB, FIDS, RMS and Aero-Billing.
Anil Varma, Auckland Airport’s acting general manager of aeronautical operations said, “A-CDM has helped us to deliver a single source of real-time data which stakeholders across the airport can both access and use. This has facilitated a collaborative approach to the management of activities on the airfield and in the terminals – helping us to accommodate growth in passenger and aircraft numbers, and improving the passenger experience.
Wellington Airport is a long term user of Gentrack’s 20/20 software but also recognized early the advantages of airport wide, real-time data sharing. As part of a national stakeholder group, Wellington Airport chose to implement A-CDM for all scheduled services, integrating it with the airport’s Nose-In Guidance System for the aircraft parking areas.
Since go live, Wellington Airport has continued its systems enhancement programme, with a focus on delivering further efficiency gains for its users. These include airlines and ground handling agents, Border Agencies and the Aviation Security Service.
Lachlan Thurston, Manager Airport Performance for Wellington Airport said, “A-CDM is facilitating a true collaborative culture within the wider airport community and although early in the piece, it is great to see the benefit from the real-time information. We view the original A -CDM model as phase one and will look to expand the platform further.”
Gentrack’s General Manager for Airport 20/20 Nigel Farley is looking forward to building on the benefits delivered by two of the first 20/20 A-CDM projects in the region. “We are excited to partner with both Auckland and Wellington to bring the benefits of A-CDM to the Australasian region. Both projects are great examples of the 20/20 Intelligent Collaboration ethos and our focus on simplifying and improving the day-to-day operations of our airport customers. Moreover, the move to A-CDM also supports the expansion plans of both airports by enabling them use their existing infrastructure more efficiently.”

“Veovo has allowed us to gain a good understanding of the security check-point dynamics, and most importantly, our customers benefit directly by getting a better service.”

“We are able to keep our passenger fully informed 24/7 about what to expect at security. Our aim is to make the experience as smooth as possible – Veovo helps us do that.”

“With Veovo, we can proactively manage passenger flow, and respond promptly and efficiently to irregular operations and disruptions.”

“Vital to our Master Plan programme is a deep understanding of airport capacity, bottlenecks and constraints, and Veovo is key to this.”

“Veovo has allowed us, together with our airport partners and stakeholders, to better manage operations, as well as improve the passenger experience by communicating expected wait times to passengers at processing points.”

“Veovo has dramatically improved our real-time operational decision-making, post-performance analysis, and capacity planning data analysis capabilities. But, perhaps, more importantly, it has helped us give our passengers a more positive airport experience.”

“Veovo gives us a clear picture of passenger movements, allowing us to provide the best customer service and proactively manage service levels before any issues arise.”

“Veovo enables us to monitor the quality of the terminal processes to improve resource planning, and to perform consistent reporting to internal and external stakeholders.”

“Veovo provides us with immediate visibility to the customer experience and resource effectiveness with throughput planning. It allows us to put the customer at ease at a critical stress point and reinforces our expectations around superior customer experience.”
